New nasal spray aims to make complex medical scopes safer

NCT ID NCT07204106

Summary

This study tested whether using a sedative nasal spray before a complex endoscopic procedure (ERCP) could make sedation safer and improve recovery. Researchers compared the nasal spray to a standard intravenous sedative and to propofol alone in 180 patients. The main goal was to see if the nasal spray approach reduced drops in blood oxygen levels during the procedure and led to a better recovery afterward.
