Could a simple change in dental sealant application keep Kids' teeth Cavity-Free longer?
NCT ID NCT06342258
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether curing (hardening) the bonding agent before placing dental sealants helps them stay on children's molars longer. Sealants are a standard way to prevent cavities, but they can wear off over time. Researchers will compare sealants placed with cured bond versus uncured bond in children aged 5 to 14, tracking retention for up to two years. The goal is to find a better method to protect teeth and reduce cavities.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Ultradent Ultra Seal XT Plus
What this could lead to
If cured bond improves sealant retention, it could lead to better cavity prevention in children with fewer reapplications.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study with a small sample, so results may not apply to all children. The procedure involves standard risks like discomfort or sealant failure.
