New program aims to shield hartford youth from violence by linking them to care
NCT ID NCT06442046
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a case manager who helps families connect to community services after a hospital visit can lower a child's exposure to violence. About 225 youth aged 8–17 from Hartford will be split into two groups: one gets active case management, the other just a list of resources. Researchers will measure changes in violence exposure and resilience over 12 months.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a practical way to reduce violence exposure and improve resilience in at-risk youth.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (225 people) testing a support program, not a medical treatment. Results may not apply to other cities or settings.
