Scoliosis study reveals hidden challenges with balance and movement

NCT ID NCT06446986

Summary

This study aimed to understand how adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (a sideways curve of the spine) affects a person's ability to do two things at once, like walking while talking, and how it impacts arm and shoulder function. Researchers compared 70 teenagers with scoliosis to healthy peers, measuring their performance on walking and balance tests and asking about arm disability. The goal was to see how these challenges relate to the specific features of the spinal curve seen on X-rays.
