Could lower chemo save more babies with SCID? new study hopes to find out
NCT ID NCT03619551
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 38 times
Summary
This study looks at whether using a lower dose of chemotherapy (busulfan) before a stem cell transplant can help babies with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) build a strong immune system with fewer side effects. About 56 infants with SCID will receive either a low or moderate dose of busulfan, followed by a transplant from an unrelated or half-matched donor. The goal is to see if they can make antibodies after vaccines, showing their immune system is working well.
