Leg stretch may alter nerve pain sensitivity, tiny study hints
NCT ID NCT07525895
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a specific leg stretching technique, called sciatic nerve mobilization, can change how sensitive the nerves in your lower leg are to pressure pain. 34 healthy university students will either receive the stretch or no treatment. Researchers will measure pain thresholds before and after to see if the stretch makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sciatic nerve mobilization (a sliding-type nerve stretching technique)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to temporarily reduce nerve pain sensitivity.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study in healthy young people, not patients with pain. Results may not apply to real-world pain conditions.
