Scientists test using Body's own repair cells to heal damaged nerves

NCT ID NCT05541250

Summary

This early-stage study is testing the safety of a new approach to treat severe nerve injuries in the arm or leg. Doctors will take a patient's own Schwann cells—which normally help nerves heal—and inject them during a standard nerve repair surgery. The goal is to see if adding these cells is safe and if it might help improve movement and feeling after the injury.
