First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a dedicated school nurse to schools in Nepal and Zambia can prevent rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in children aged 5 to 16. The nurse will teach about RHD, check for sore throats caused by strep bacteria, and help kids with RHD get regular antibiotics. The goal is to see if this program lowers the number of children who develop RHD.
