Scientists test First-Ever shot against parasitic worm disease

NCT ID NCT05762393

Summary

This study was the first human test of a new vaccine candidate called SchistoShield®, designed to prevent schistosomiasis, a serious parasitic disease. Researchers gave 120 healthy adults in Burkina Faso and Madagascar three different doses of the vaccine or a placebo to check for safety and to see if it triggered an immune response. The main goal was to find a safe dose and see how well the body's defenses reacted to the vaccine.
