Can local volunteers teach kids to beat a parasitic disease?

NCT ID NCT06312462

Summary

This study tested whether training local community volunteers to teach students about schistosomiasis (a parasitic worm disease) could improve the students' knowledge and reduce infections. Researchers surveyed nearly 1,000 students on Pemba Island, comparing a school that received the volunteer-led lessons to one that did not. The goal was to see if this education model could be a useful tool for disease prevention efforts in Africa and beyond.
