Scalp block may steady brain signals during skull surgery

NCT ID NCT06984653

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at 88 people having brain surgery to see if a scalp block (numbing the scalp) keeps brain activity and vital signs more stable when the head is pinned in place. Researchers measured brain wave numbers (BIS) and blood pressure before and after the block. The goal was to learn if this simple step improves patient safety during a key part of surgery.
