Saliva enzyme may reveal how well wisdom tooth wounds heal

NCT ID NCT07600619

First seen Jun 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a natural enzyme in saliva, called α-amylase, can help measure early healing after wisdom tooth removal. Researchers compared 28 adults who either received a special blood-based clot (PRF) in the wound or standard care. Saliva samples were collected right after surgery and again on days 3 and 7 to see if the enzyme levels changed with healing.
