New study tracks IBD drug safety for moms and babies

NCT ID NCT06337565

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study follows 1000 pregnant women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who are taking newer medications (non-anti-TNF biologics or targeted small molecules). Researchers will track the health of mothers and their children for up to 4 years after birth, focusing on serious infections and other side effects. The goal is to provide safety data that is currently missing because pregnant women are usually excluded from drug trials.
