New scan could spare injured kids from radiation

NCT ID NCT04718441

Summary

This study tested if a special type of ultrasound, which uses a safe contrast dye, could be as accurate as a CT scan at finding internal injuries in children who hurt their abdomen. It involved 68 children, aged 8 to 18, who were already getting a CT scan as part of their standard care. Researchers compared the results of the new ultrasound to the CT scan to see if it could reliably spot injuries to organs like the liver or spleen.
