New scan could protect kids from radiation during injury checks

NCT ID NCT03473249

Summary

This study is testing a radiation-free ultrasound method to find internal injuries in children under 8 who have had a blunt force to the abdomen, such as from a fall or car accident. Researchers are comparing this new scan to the current standard CT scan to see if it is just as accurate at finding injuries. The goal is to provide a safer option that avoids exposing young children to unnecessary radiation.
