German hospitals test 'Cleaner' blood platelets to prevent transfusion risks

NCT ID NCT07354672

Summary

This study is observing how well a newer, 'pathogen-reduced' type of platelet transfusion works in everyday hospital practice. It will follow 850 adult patients in Germany who need platelet transfusions to prevent bleeding. The main goal is to see if these specially treated platelets are safer, causing fewer serious reactions, while still being effective.
