Summary
This study tested whether implanting a heart defibrillator under the skin (S-ICD) without doing a defibrillation test is as safe and effective as doing the test. Nearly 1,000 adults at risk of dangerous heart rhythms took part. The goal was to see if skipping the test still allows the device to stop life-threatening arrhythmias on the first try.
