Major trial tests new shot to protect seniors from dangerous RSV lung infections

Summary
This large, late-stage study is testing a new vaccine designed to protect adults aged 60 and older from serious lung diseases caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). About 25,000 participants will receive either the single-dose vaccine or a placebo to see if it safely prevents RSV infections. Researchers will measure how well the vaccine works by tracking cases of lower respiratory tract illness confirmed by lab tests.
