New RSV prevention program shows promise in cutting child hospitalizations

NCT ID NCT07164430

Summary

This study looked at whether new RSV prevention medicines given to babies and pregnant mothers reduced RSV-related hospital visits in children under 2 years old. Researchers analyzed health records from 2,792 children in the Australian Capital Territory, comparing hospital visits before and after the prevention program started in 2025. The goal was to understand how effective these new prevention options are at keeping young children out of the hospital with RSV.
