New breathing ratio may predict tube removal success
NCT ID NCT06945952
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a new measurement—the ratio of breathing rate to diaphragm thickness—can help doctors know when it's safe to remove a breathing tube. About 100 adults in the ICU who are ready to try breathing on their own will be tested. The goal is to see if this new ratio works better than current methods at predicting successful tube removal.
