New spacer may help shoulder tears heal better
NCT ID NCT04704700
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a small balloon-like spacer (InSpace) during rotator cuff repair surgery helps prevent the tendon from tearing again. Thirty adults with a specific type of shoulder tear were split into two groups: one got the spacer, the other did not. The main goal was to check re-tear rates after 12 months using imaging, along with pain, mobility, and quality of life.
