New study aims to ease stubborn Post-Birth pain
NCT ID NCT03084549
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting a numbing medicine (ropivacaine) into the perineum after an episiotomy reduces pain better than a placebo. About 272 women who had a right-sided episiotomy during childbirth took part. The goal was to see if the treatment helps with pain up to 7 days and beyond, since many women still have pain weeks later.
