Shellfish-Based gel tested to fight stubborn tooth infections
NCT ID NCT07388888
Summary
This study aims to compare how well two different disinfectant gels work at killing bacteria inside infected root canals and reducing pain after treatment. Researchers will test a standard calcium hydroxide gel against a newer gel made from chitosan nanoparticles (derived from shellfish shells) in 52 adults with infected, non-vital teeth. They will measure bacteria levels before and after treatment and track patients' pain levels to see which gel performs better.
