Shocking the way to recovery: electrical zaps boost robotic arm therapy for stroke survivors?

NCT ID NCT05570838

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding functional electrical stimulation (FES) to robot-assisted therapy helps people who had a stroke regain arm function. About 70 participants with arm weakness were split into two groups: one got robot therapy plus FES, the other got robot therapy alone. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
