Robots vs. zaps: race to restore hand function after spinal injury
NCT ID NCT06912217
Summary
This study compared three different therapies to see which works best for improving hand and arm function in adults with tetraplegia (paralysis in all four limbs) from a spinal cord injury. Thirty participants tried either robotic-assisted rehabilitation, functional electrical stimulation (using gentle electrical currents to activate muscles), or standard occupational therapy. Researchers measured changes in grip strength, fine motor skills, and ability to perform daily tasks to guide more personalized rehab plans.
