New drug aims to shield kidneys during heart surgery

Summary
This study tested a drug called RMC-035 to see if it can protect kidney function in people at high risk for kidney injury after open-chest heart surgery. 170 adults received either a high dose, low dose, or a placebo during and after surgery. Researchers measured kidney function and safety up to 90 days after surgery to find the best dose.
