Mass drug showdown: which treatment better fights river blindness?

NCT ID NCT07145736

Summary

This large study in Angola compares two approved drugs—moxidectin and ivermectin—to see which works better when given annually to entire communities to control river blindness. Researchers will treat 52,000 people across 20 village groups for four years to measure how well each drug reduces infections and prevents disease spread. The results will help guide global efforts to eliminate river blindness and control related parasitic infections like intestinal worms and scabies.
