Pill vs. shot: which blood thinner better prevents deadly clots after surgery?
NCT ID NCT07243080
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study compares two blood thinners—rivaroxaban (a pill) and enoxaparin (a daily shot)—to see which works better at preventing dangerous blood clots in the legs after emergency abdominal surgery. About 212 adults will take one of the medications for 7 days after surgery and get ultrasound scans to check for clots. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to protect patients during recovery.
