New pill aims to tame rogue immune system in rare blood disorder

Summary

This study is testing whether an oral medication called rilzabrutinib can safely and effectively control a rare autoimmune blood disorder called warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA). It will involve about 90 adults whose disease hasn't responded well to standard steroid treatments. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the study drug or a placebo for 24 weeks, followed by an open-label period where everyone can receive the active drug.
