First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This small study tested a procedure called cryoanalgesia, which uses cold to temporarily freeze nerves and relieve pain from broken ribs. The goal was to see if this approach could control pain better than standard treatments and reduce the need for strong painkillers. Five adults with rib fractures took part, and researchers measured pain levels, hospital stay length, and quality of life.
