First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether a clot-dissolving medicine (alteplase) given within 4.5 hours of a central retinal artery occlusion (eye stroke) can restore vision. About 127 adults with sudden, painless vision loss in one eye were enrolled. The trial was stopped early, but results may still help guide future emergency treatment for this rare condition.
