Heart study aims to stop AFib relapse with lifestyle and trigger control

NCT ID NCT03682991

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether aggressively managing risk factors (like high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes) and avoiding triggers (like alcohol and smoking) can reduce the return of atrial fibrillation after a heart procedure called ablation. About 500 adults with AFib who are at higher risk due to these factors are taking part. The goal is to see if this approach lowers hospital visits and serious AFib episodes.
