First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a probiotic (Saccharomyces boulardii) alongside standard antibiotics can protect the gut bacteria of 100 children aged 4–12 being treated for ear or sinus infections. The goal is to reduce antibiotic-related diarrhea and prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant genes. Researchers will analyze stool and nose swab samples to measure changes in the microbiome.
