Can simple breathing exercises help ICU patients breathe on their own?

NCT ID NCT04658498

First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at how different breathing exercises affect the muscles that help us breathe in ICU patients who are having trouble coming off a ventilator. Researchers will measure muscle strength and use ultrasound to see changes in the diaphragm. The goal is to find the best way to retrain breathing muscles so patients can breathe independently again.
