Lifting weights may boost heart rehab for women

NCT ID NCT07354399

First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding resistance training (like squats and pulling exercises with weights) to usual cycling workouts helps women with coronary artery disease improve their fitness and muscle mass more than cycling alone. About 50 women will take part in a 12-week cardiac rehab program, doing either cycling only or cycling plus weight training. Researchers will measure changes in aerobic capacity, muscle mass, and strength to see which approach works best.
