New drug aims to free ARDS patients from ventilators faster

Summary
This study tested if adding an experimental drug called reparixin to standard hospital care helps adults with severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). ARDS is a life-threatening condition where the lungs fill with fluid, often requiring a ventilator to breathe. The trial involved 66 hospitalized patients to see if reparixin could reduce lung injury, help patients get off the ventilator sooner, and be done safely.
