Blood flow trick boosts leg recovery after broken thigh

NCT ID NCT02746458

First seen Jun 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested a new rehab approach for people recovering from a broken femur (thigh bone). The method, called REPAIR, adds a blood pressure cuff to partially restrict blood flow during exercises. The goal was to see if this helps patients regain thigh strength and muscle size faster than standard rehab. 219 adults aged 18-55 with a closed femur fracture took part.
