New shot could slow blindness in millions

Summary
This study tests a daily shot called elamipretide to see if it can slow the loss of light-sensing cells in the eyes of people with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). About 313 adults aged 55 and older with early vision damage will receive either the drug or a placebo for up to 96 weeks. The goal is to measure changes in the retina and check for side effects.
