New ER study tests two drugs for kidney stone pain relief
NCT ID NCT06980727
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a steroid (dexamethasone) or a breathing treatment drug (terbutaline) to usual pain medicine can better relieve sudden, severe kidney stone pain. About 300 adults aged 18-65 with intense pain will be randomly assigned to one of the two extra treatments. The main goal is to see if more people get at least 50% pain relief within a few hours.
