Smartphone monitors could free midwives during labor pain relief

NCT ID NCT07167498

Summary

This study aims to see if remote monitoring of vital signs using a smartphone is safe for women using remifentanil pain relief during labor. It will compare outcomes when a midwife stays in the room constantly versus when they can leave for short breaks while monitoring the mother remotely. The goal is to find a safe way to use this effective pain relief option without needing constant one-to-one staffing, which can be difficult in busy hospitals.
