Anesthesia study probes Painkiller's brain impact

NCT ID NCT06237101

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how the painkiller remifentanil changes brain wave patterns in 20 healthy adults (ages 18-60) having planned surgery under propofol anesthesia. Researchers want to see if remifentanil helps propofol cause a deep brain state called burst suppression. Participants will receive both drugs in a set order, and their brain activity will be monitored. This is a knowledge-gathering study with no direct treatment benefit.
