New device aims to free kids from IV feeding tubes

NCT ID NCT03530852

Summary

This study is testing a small cartridge called RELiZORB that attaches to a feeding tube. It's designed to help children with short bowel syndrome digest and absorb fats from their tube feeding. The goal is to see if better nutrient absorption can reduce or eliminate the child's need for risky intravenous nutrition. Researchers will monitor 32 children for 90 days to check safety and see if the device helps them gain weight and rely less on IV feeding.
