First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study explores whether helping people who feel less than human (self-dehumanization) can reduce suicidal thoughts and increase oxytocin, a hormone linked to bonding. Fifty adults with moderate self-dehumanization and current suicidal thoughts will be randomly assigned to a re-humanization or control group. Researchers will measure changes in suicidal ideation and oxytocin levels from blood samples.
