Summary

This study tests a device called PTeye™ that uses near-infrared light to help surgeons see and protect the parathyroid glands during total thyroid removal. About 210 adults in Hong Kong will be randomly assigned to either standard surgery or surgery with this light assistance. The goal is to see if the device lowers the chance of developing low calcium levels (hypoparathyroidism) after the operation.
