New approach aims to protect patients' blood cells during aggressive cervical cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT07461142

Summary

This study tests whether carefully avoiding bone marrow during pelvic radiation can reduce severe blood-related side effects in women receiving combined chemotherapy and radiation for advanced cervical cancer. Researchers want to see if this bone-sparing technique decreases dangerous drops in blood cell counts and reduces the need for blood transfusions or growth factor medications. The goal is to help patients complete their full treatment on schedule without dangerous delays that could reduce treatment effectiveness.
