Could a tiny dose of dye prevent bile duct injuries during gallbladder removal?

NCT ID NCT07195331

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a much smaller dose of a dye (indocyanine green) given just before gallbladder surgery works as well as the standard larger dose given hours earlier. The dye helps surgeons see the bile ducts clearly, which may reduce the risk of accidental injury. About 122 adults having laparoscopic gallbladder removal will take part, and the study will compare how well each dose lights up the bile ducts.
