Kidney nerve zapping fails to prove benefit for stubborn AFib

NCT ID NCT05817318

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested a procedure called renal denervation, which uses energy to calm kidney nerves, in 6 adults with recurrent atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) despite prior successful lung-vein isolation. The goal was to see if it could reduce the amount of time spent in atrial fibrillation over 6 months. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
