Red light device could halt blindness in severely nearsighted adults

NCT ID NCT07312214

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests if a special red light device, used twice daily for 3 minutes, can slow down damage to the back of the eye in adults with severe nearsightedness (pathologic myopia). About 158 people will use either the real device or a fake one for 12 months. Researchers will check if the light improves blood flow in the eye and prevents further vision loss.
