New cancer combo aims to spare patients from permanent colostomy bags

NCT ID NCT07277842

Summary

This study is testing whether adding an immunotherapy drug (PD-1 antibody) to strong chemotherapy and radiation before surgery works better than standard chemotherapy with radiation for adults with advanced rectal cancer. Researchers want to see if this approach helps more patients avoid permanent colostomy bags and live longer without cancer returning. The trial will involve 382 participants randomly assigned to receive either the experimental combination or the standard treatment.
