First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests two ways of giving extra radiation to people with stage II rectal cancer to see if it can make the tumor disappear completely and avoid the need for surgery. About 131 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard external beam boost or a special internal radiation boost (brachytherapy) after initial chemoradiation. The goal is to increase the number of patients who achieve a complete response and can keep their rectum.
